System Import

Menu > Import Management > New Upload

This import type should be used to add new CSV files or update or replace existing files. Generally, this import type should not be used to update part data stored in R+.

System Import and Site Administration Settings

This import type relies on the “Part Fields Enabled for Update” in the Import Global Settingsarrow-up-right in the Site Administration Module. When uploading a Part file, these settings protect against the replacement of values that are being maintained in R+ and/or in the host system of record.

Example list of Site Admin Import Settings

Any field on the list that is checked will be allowed to be updated or replaced via the interface or an upload. If the field on the list is NOT checked, the System Import will stop that field from being updated or replaced in the import.

Most interfaces between your ERP system and R+ will be a System Import. The interface will seek to replace or update the data in the checked fields from your ERP. If the field is checked, but there is no data for it in your ERP, the interface will change all of the data in that field to blanks.

Only check items - or leave items checked - that will be transferred from your ERP to R+. Data fields stored in R+ should never be checked.

If you wish to import a field on this list that is not checked with the System Import, you will need to check it first. However, always remember to uncheck it after completion.

If you need to import a field that is unchecked, consider using the Configuration Import instead.

Formatting a CSV for a System Import

When using the System Import, you will need to include all data fields and parts in the file you wish to upload. If you remove a data field or part from the file, the file will either:

a) fail to load properly and cause an error message.

b) if the file loads and imports successfully, the data in the fields that have been removed from the file will have their data replaced with blanks.

The System Import always assumes that you are uploading a complete file. This is why it is important to never remove a data field from a file that you wish to upload via System Import.
