There may be times when you want to edit part data. Typically you should only edit part details in R+ if that data is being stored in R+ and not in your ERP. If the data, like the lead time of the part, is being stored in your ERP system and is being imported via the interface then you will want to edit that part data in your source ERP system.
Pentair users have been instructed by their team to only update master data (such as lead time, part type, etc..) in SAP. Buffer profiles and other R+ managed data can be edited directly in R+ by the Pentair core project team.
This is determined at the Site Administration Level in the Import & Export Settings. There will be a number of fields being imported via the interface, but also several being managed only in R+. Your administrator can choose if you can only edit data that is being stored in R+, or if you can edit all part data.
You do not need Site Administration access to determine which data you can edit. Instead, visit a Part record and see if you have the ability to changes values with orange triangles next to them. And orange triangle indicates that this field is being imported via the interface and could change again with the next interface.
If you do not have the ability to edit these field, you will not see any dropdowns or textboxes on these values. If you do have the ability to edit these fields, you will see textboxes and dropdowns that you can edit on these values.
