There are multiple ways to change part data in R+. The two main ways are manual editing in the part record and bulk editing via part file.

Manually Editing Part Data

To manually edit a part in R+, you will need to access the Part record for that part, make the necessary changes, and Save the changes. Here are the two ways to do this.

Only the core project team at Pentair has been given the permissions necessary to manually edit part data in R+.

Part Editor

The Part Editor contains all of the Part records for all parts that currently exist in R+. To access it, go to the Menu and select Part in the Editors section.

Once in the editor, you should see a screen like the below. These are all of the part records in R+. You can use the column headers to filter and find the part(s) you wish to edit.

There are two ways to edit a part in the Part Editor.

In-Line Editing

You can edit a few fields right from the screen with in-line editing. Click the "Edit" button to access several of the part fields and make changes right in the line of the part.

Once you have successfully edited the part, select "Update" to save the changes.

Edit in the Part Record

To access the full part record and view all of the properties for the part, click the "Details" button instead.

This will open the full Part record in a pop-up screen on the page. You will start in View Only mode. To make changes to the Part, select "Edit" in the upper right hand corner.

On the Edit screen, the fields will turn into textboxes and dropdown menus that you will be able to edit, based on your permissions. Once you have made the necessary changes, select the "Save" button in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

Workbench Preview

Another way to access the Part record is via the Workbench Preview. On the Workbench Preview, select a Part Number to open its Part Detail screen.

In the Part Details screen, you will see an "Edit" button in the upper right hand corner. Select this button and it will take you to the Edit screen of the Part Record.

On the Edit screen, the fields will turn into textboxes and dropdown menus that you will be able to edit, depending on your permissions. Once you have made the necessary changes, select the "Save" button in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

Bulk Editing Part Data

If you are planning on making changes to multiple parts all at once, this will be the optimal method to use. Examples of cases of when you may need to bulk edit part data are:

  • Adding CDAFs to multiple parts

  • Turning on AutoApprove for multiple parts

  • Uploading custom buffer profiles to new parts

  • Updating Order Cycle data

There are already detailed guides on how to complete the steps for uploading Part Data in this guide. Below are the rough steps for bulk editing part data, including the linked pages for each of these steps:

  1. Download the existing Part file

  2. Update the Part file with the new data

  3. Format the Part file and save it as a CSV

  4. Upload the Part file via the Import Management screen

  5. Confirm that the upload was successful

Pentair has been instructed to make mass updates via Part file upload. Only the core project team will be responsible for mass updates via part file upload.
